Silent Auction Benefits March of Dimes
JEFFERSON CITY - A silent auction to benefit March of Dimes began Wednesday morning. The auction is in the JCMG Medical Building Lobby and will continue until 11am on Friday. All of the proceeds from the auction will be given to March of Dimes to raise awareness about the risks of premature birth and to support healthy babies.
Stephanie Lehmen is a community relations employee for JCMG. She says for many of the staff there is a personal connection to the fundraiser.
"Many of us are parents ourselves," Lehman said. "And so we want to see healthy babies being born of course. Personally, I had a preemie, and so that's kind of a personal thing to me...March of Dimes does have a warm place in a lot of our hearts."
People can bid on handcrafted Easter baskets ranging in price from $35 to $360. The baskets carry anything from St. Louis Cardinals apparel, to cooking utensils, to bath and body products. There is also an assortment of baskets catering to children, including dolls and stuffed animals.
The winning bidders are notified at the end of the auction, but there is also a guaranteed bid for all baskets, which means for a set price the bidder can take the basket home when they leave. If you'd like to take a look at the baskets ahead of time, go to JCMG's website.
