Skeletal remains found at house fire believed to be homeowner's
EUGENE — The Cole County Sheriff's Department and other agencies located skeletal remains Friday at the site of a home fire in Eugene.
Sheriff John Wheeler said in a release that he believes the remains belong to the home resident, Glen Ford.
The fire happened in November and completely destroyed the property at 16316 Berry St. Ford went missing after the fire and has not been seen since.
Authorities said no one else was in the home at the time of the fire.
Wheeler said in his release, "An anthropologist and a team of eight others from the University of Missouri and Columbia College arrived and started sifting through the debris at the site."
The team revisited the site Saturday morning to continue digging for the open investigation.
The Sheriff's Department is also working with Cole County Public Works, Cole County Emergency Management, Cole County Fire Protection District and Cole County First Responders.
KOMU 8 News is waiting to hear if the skeletal remains are confirmed to be Ford's.
