Small Farm Trade Show & Conference Comes to Columbia
COLUMBIA - The 21st annual Small Farm Trade Show & Conference is in Columbia this weekend.
It is the largest annual small farm show in the United States and provides a way for local small farm owners to share farming methods and ideas.
"This show has been around for 21 years and it focuses on bringing small farmers together in a place where they can compare ideas and tell other farmers what's worked for them and also have a chance to listen to industry professionals. We bring in some of the best people in the industry of small farming practices," said volunteer, Joe Pendergrass.
The show features seminars, cooking demonstrations, speakers and exhibits presented by more than 100 vendors from around the country.
"They can buy seeds, they can buy tools, they can speak with soil experts and things like that and we also have livestock and poultry that some of the vendors bring in," said Pendergrass.
Pendergrass said visitors from as far as Colorado and Utah come to the show.
"Everyone's excited for the show to come around. They look forward to this show year after year."
The show is sponsored by Small Farm Today magazine and will run Friday until 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Admission is $8.
