ADVANCE, Mo. - It didn't take long for aldermen in the tiny southeast Missouri town of Advance to rethink an ordinance limiting dog ownership.
Aldermen passed a law last week limiting ownership to two dogs in every household, lawn or enclosure. Mayor Carl Ritter told the Southeast Missourian on Monday that the ordinance has now been repealed.
Ritter said the ordinance was meant to address numerous complaints about dogs barking through the night and trespassing onto neighboring properties. Ritter says the board decided Monday morning to repeal the measure and will instead put together a committee to address the problem.
