DONIPHAN (AP) - The National Weather Service confirms that a small tornado was responsible for destroying up to 200 trees and a few outbuildings in southeast Missouri over the weekend.
A survey team inspected the damage in Ripley County on Monday and concluded the area was hit Sunday afternoon by an EF-1 twister, with peak winds of 100 mph.
The tornado touched down shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday about 13 miles northeast of Doniphan. The twister's path was 100 yards wide and one-third of a mile long.
No deaths or injuries were reported.
