SEDALIA, MO -- Smith-Cotton High School has hired Ray Hughes of Jefferson City for its vacant head boys basketball coaching position. Mr. Hughes has been a teacher and assistant boys basketball coach for Jefferson City High School since 2000. Prior to 2000, Hughes served as the head coach of Lewis and Clark Middle School in Jefferson City. He has also served as a collegiate assistant for both the men's and women's programs at Lincoln University.

Mr. Hughes brings extensive experience from a quality program and has a track record of developing players from youth leagues to collegiate athletes. He possesses a strong work ethic, professional approach, and caring attitude for his players. I believe his knowledge of the game and his ability to positively mentor our athletes will be of great benefit to our basketball program as we look to the future.
