Southeast Missouri State's AD resigns to take Memphis job
CAPE GIRARDEAU (AP) - The athletics director at Southeast Missouri State is headed to the University of Memphis.
Mark Alnutt said he would step down July 31 from his position at the school in Cape Girardeau to become deputy athletics director at Memphis.
Alnutt had held the post at Southeast Missouri State since May 2012.
Alnutt said he's enjoyed his time at that school, and the athletics there are on an upward trajectory.
Memphis athletics director, Tom Bowen, said Alnutt was hired after a comprehensive national search. Bowen called him "one of the best young athletics directors in Division I."
Brady Barke has served as Southeast Missouri State's senior associate to the president and was set to fill in for Alnutt on an interim basis.
