Southwest Missouri Police Shoot, Kill Man
MARIONVILLE (AP) - An officer has shot and killed a man at a southwest Missouri apartment while responding a report of a woman being held against her will.
The Springfield News-Leader reported that the Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the Saturday night shooting in Marionville.
Patrol Sgt. Mike Watson says the suspect was shot when he approached an officer with a pair of scissors. The officer has been placed on paid leave.
The name of the Springfield-area man who was killed wasn't immediately released. Nor was his relationship to the woman being held against her will. Watson says the woman wasn't injured.
Marionville Police Chief Mark Webb says a child at the apartment was taken by a grandparent later that night.
