Supporters said the plant's fuel production will reduce prices and increase competition because consumers will pay less for products hauled by trucks using cheaper fuel.
"Anybody that uses either fuel in their vehicles or buys products that are transferred by trucks is better off," said Dale Ludwig of the Missouri Soybean Association.
Mexico's is the first biodiesel plant in the region, although there are similiar plants in Minnesota.
