Spring Clean Up Week in Fulton
FULTON - For this week only, residents in Fulton can put out more trash than before. Items that are now able to be picked up include sofas, wooden chairs, TV's, and much more.
Fulton public relations spokesperson person, Daren Wernig says this is a time for residents who buy new furniture to get rid of their old ones without paying an additional fee to have it picked up.
Vic Weiser, a retired trash truck driver for Fulton, says the routes that are on Wednesdays and Fridays have the most trash typically during the Spring Cleanup Week.
Wernig says couches, chairs, mattresses, TV's, computers, and items similar to those are acceptable to be picked up. Among the list that isn't acceptable would include paint, any chemicals, construction debris, large appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers or dryers.
Wernig says this is a good idea to have every year, but it's as far as it can go. He says Fulton wouldn't be able to do this for free every day because of how much time it would take for drivers to finish their routes and because of how much it would cost.
The City of Fulton designates two trash trucks for Spring Cleanup Week, one for getting trash that is commonly picked put out and another truck for items such as couches, TV's, and other bigger items that would not typically be found in an everyday trash pickup.
