St. Charles County Drug Court to Mark 1,000 Grads
ST. CHARLES (AP) - An eastern Missouri drug court is about to celebrate its 1,000th graduate.
St. Charles County Circuit Court will mark the milestone for the Adult Drug Court Program on Aug. 28 at the county administration building.
The program began in August 2000. It offers separate tracks for felony drunk-driving and drug offender cases.
Drug courts are an alternative to incarceration for those with substance abuse problems who committed crimes to support their addictions, or were under the influence at the time of their offense.
In April, the St. Charles County program was one of 10 in the nation named a National Mentor Court, used as models for other courts around the country for judges and staff to visit and observe their procedures.
