St. Louis County allots $500K for Ferguson recovery
FERGUSON (AP) - Businesses in three north St. Louis County communities damaged in the aftermath of the Michael Brown grand jury announcement will receive a total of $500,000 to help tear down or repair their burned-out property.
KSDK-TV reports that money from St. Louis County and the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership will be used in Dellwood, Jennings and Ferguson, as well parts of unincorporated of north county.
Roughly two dozen businesses were set on fire and 10 vehicles destroyed at a local car dealership after a county grand jury's late November decision not to indict former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for Brown's death.
The money will come from the St. Louis County Port Authority via a lease payment by River City Casino to operate in the county.
