ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis County police are investigating after a man was found dead in his apartment.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the man died of a gunshot wound. And police spokesman Randy Vaughn says the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Vaughn says police went to the man's apartment Monday after receiving a report about a dead person. Police described the victim only as a 39-year-old male. He may have died between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday.

Vaughn says an autopsy will determine the victim's official cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
