St. Louis crime summit planned
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Violent crime is up in St. Louis this year, and organizers of a crime summit are hoping to do something about it.
KTVI-TV reports that a crime summit is scheduled Nov. 7 at the Better Family Life Cultural and Business Center.
St. Louis has already had as many killings in 2014 as all of last year, with more than two months to go until the end of the year. There have been several cases where children have been hit, including the shooting of a 4-year-old this past weekend. He is expected to survive.
The crime summit is for men only. Community leaders are hosting the gathering with help from Michael Brown Sr., the father of the 18-year-old shot and killed by a Ferguson police officer in August.
