St. Louis gets pair of $3 million grants
ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis area is getting two $3 million federal grants, one for a jobs creation program at a housing development, the other to combat terrorism.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that St. Louis is among 28 "high-threat, high-density urban areas" designed by the Department of Homeland Security for federal funding. The money is meant to prevent terrorist attacks or mitigate damage from them or from major disasters.
The jobs program grant to the St. Louis Housing Authority provides skills training, job counseling and job placement services at Clinton-Peabody housing development.
