ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis police officer is accused of assaulting a handcuffed suspect.
Police on Monday arrested the 39-year-old officer on suspicion of second-degree assault, a felony, and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Formal charges have not been filed. He was released on his own recognizance.
The alleged victim of the assault, 35-year-old Jermaine Lacy, admitted to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he was not supposed to be at Lumiere Place Casino on July 5, and that he taunted the officer by making fun of his weight. He says that's when the officer assaulted him.
