St. Louis police ID man shot, killed during attack on woman
ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police have publicly identified a homeless man shot and killed last month by a woman they said he attacked with scissors.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports 57-year-old Cedric Tankins died at the scene of the shooting June 21.
Police said Tankins brandished the scissors when the 35-year-old woman asked him to leave. During an ensuing struggle, one of the woman's hands was stabbed before she managed to retrieve a firearm and shot the man in the chest.
Police said the woman was justified in shooting Tankins.
The woman declined medical treatment at the scene.
