ST. LOUIS (AP) - City and county police in St. Louis report more than 50 arrests over Labor Day weekend connected to the "Ride of the Century" motorcycle rally.
City police report making 47 arrests and towing nearly 60 bikes starting last Thursday through Labor Day. The violations ranged from careless and reckless driving to operating stolen motor vehicles St. Louis County arrested six riders for registration violations and towed eight motorcycles.
This 11th annual event was sponsored by a St. Louis stunt motorcycle team known as Streetfighterz. Police from throughout the region pledged a crackdown for any violations this year.
Authorities also reported two motorcyclist deaths involving century ride participants.
The number of event-related arrests is expected to increase after the Missouri Highway Patrol releases its own statistics later Tuesday.
