St. Robert man drowns swimming across Gasconade River
PULASKI COUNTY - A St. Robert man died Friday after he drowned in the Gasconade River.
Authorities said Mark Joseph-Salas Concepcion, 35, was trying to swim across the river when he disappeared about halfway across.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office was notified of the incident at 2:15 p.m. and sent fire, EMS, and sheriff's deputies to the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol also sent officers from their Water Patrol Division to the location. State troopers began a search for Concepcion shortly upon arriving.
Citizens at the scene attempted to save Concepcion, but were unsuccessful. His body was recovered from the river around 4:15 p.m.
Pulaski County Coroner Gary Carmack was on the scene and took charge of the body.
