Standoff ends in tear gas at a barricaded garage
CAMDEN COUNTY- A call for a home invasion ended with deputies deploying tear gas and taking a 34-year-old man into custody late Sunday night.
The Camden County Sheriff's Office said a female caller called 911 because someone was trying to break into her house through the front door and window. She then told officers the suspect was entering through the house from the attached garage.
The suspect was Travis Allen Dale, who was the woman's estranged boyfriend. The woman told police she was afraid he was armed with a shotgun and a knife.
Officers arrived and found Dale and the caller barricaded inside the garage.
The police said they deployed tear gas into the garage after attempting to talk to Dale through the garage door.
Police officers said they did not find a shotgun, but Dale had several knives when he was arrested.
Dale was transported to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility where he was booked on one outstanding Camden County warrant for violation bond condition on a domestic assault charge.
