PIKE COUNTY — One male died in a car accident Thursday morning after his truck struck a culvert heading northbound on highway US 61.

New London resident Andrew W. Leake, 42, died after his vehicle travelled off the left side of US 61 and began to overturn. The Missouri State Highway Patrol website stated the driver struck a culvert, and he went airborne. Leake was not wearing a seatbelt.

Pike County Coroner Jim Turner pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Mudd-Veach Transport moved his body to Mudd-Veach Funeral Home. Officials transported the totaled vehicle to Jones Wrecker Service.
