Statue to Honor Music Legend Chuck Berry
UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (AP) - The man considered by many to be the father of rock `n roll is getting a statue in his honor.
St. Louis native Chuck Berry will be honored with the statue dedication Friday morning on the Delmar Loop in University City.
Sculptor Harry Weber was commissioned to create the 8-foot-tall bronze statue that will sit near Blueberry Hill, the landmark where Berry still performs monthly concerts.
Berry is known for a string of hits in the early days of rock that included "Johnny B. Goode," "Sweet Little Sixteen" and
"Roll Over Beethoven." He was the first person inducted into the Rock `n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
