Students Skip Sleep to Cure Cancer
FULTON - Students at William Woods University skipped a night of sleep Wednesday to "Scare Away Cancer." The University held its seventh "Up 'til Dawn" event to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Participants wrote 50 letters each to friends and family asking for donations.
The students took breaks from writing by decorating pumpkins, visiting the haunted house, and signing cards to St. Jude patients. Around 50 students were at the event. Together, they hope to raise $18,000 for the hospital.
The students invited a St. Jude patient family to join the event. The Zulovich family from Columbia shared their story. Doctors found a tumor on their daughter's spine in 2004. After multiple rounds of radiation and chemotherapy at St. Jude, Jill is a healthy third grader.
