Sturgeon Hosts Benefit For 6-Month-Old Boy
STURGEON - Family and friends came together to support 6-month-old Wyatt Halliburton with a rockin' fundraiser. Wyatt lives with multiple implications that were brought on by a stroke he had in his mother's womb. Right now, his vision and heart are in such a condition that requires regular medical check-ups. Friends of the family planned an all evening event Saturday in Sturgeon to help raise money for Wyatt.
Wyatt, his mom, dad and sister attended the event, along with relatives from nearby and as far away as Michigan. The family has incurred a lot of medical expenses and supporters hope to raise money to help the family defray some of the costs. Jill Halliburton, Wyatt's mom, said he's a blessing to them.
"Just the fact that he's even with us is a gift from God because if we would have waited another day I don't think he would have made it," she said.
Organizers said the event sold numerous tickets. About 300 chairs were placed near tables in the Sturgeon Rec Center for a large gathering of people to enjoy food, music and an auction. Some of the items up for bidding include wildlife photos, art and ceramics, and quilts.
