CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - A suburban St. Louis high school student is receiving national recognition for her essay on body image.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Parkway Central High School freshman Jennifer Wayland is a grand-prize winner in Major League Baseball's "Breaking Barriers: In Sports, In Life" essay contest. The contest honors the legacy of Jackie Robinson.
Jennifer wrote a personal story about body image. It was selected from more than 18,000 other student essays. She won a laptop computer and will join Robinson's daughter, Sharon, at the All-Star Game in July.
