Suit: Hooters Waitress Forced Out After Surgery
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A woman claims in a lawsuit that she lost her waitressing job at a suburban St. Louis Hooters restaurant after she underwent brain surgery.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Sandro Lupo recently filed the discrimination lawsuit in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. She claimed that she initially was told she could return to work with buzz-cut hair and a healing scar.
But her bosses later changed course and told her couldn't work at the St. Peters restaurant without a wig. Lupo says a wig would impair her healing.
The company denied Lupo's accusations in court filings Friday. Hooters' defense said the suit should be dismissed and that she should be required to arbitrate her claim.
Lupo now works as a registered nurse.
