Suspect in police shooting continues to recover
KINLOCH, Mo. (AP) — An 18-year-old suspect continues to recover after being shot by police in the St. Louis suburb of Kinloch.
The suspect from the Monday incident has been identified as Darion Lamont Lewis of Ferguson. He is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Lewis is jailed on $50,000 bond.
St. Louis County police say the Kinloch officer feared for his life when the suspect accelerated a stolen car toward the officer. Lewis was hit in the leg and taken to a hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The officer has worked in law enforcement for nine years, the past four in Kinloch. His name was not released.
