KENNETT, Mo. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a suspected drunken driver in a head-on crash that killed a husband and wife in southeast Missouri.

The Daily American Republic (http://bit.ly/1COCxBR) reports that the crash happened late Friday in Dunklin County when a pickup truck crossed the center line of U.S. 62 and struck a sedan. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 46-year-old James P. Kerperien, and 44-year-old Stephanie A. Kerperien, both of Campbell, were pronounced dead early Saturday at the scene. The Kerperiens were in the sedan.

The truck's 24-year-old driver is jailed in Dunklin County. The patrol says he is suspected of being intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
