Suspicious Fires in Audrain County
Three more blazes kept firefighters busy Tuesday, after 11 fires on Monday.
Investigators from the Little Dixie Fire Protection District are looking for suspects.
"Upon investigation, it was determined that they had been intentionally set," said Chief Ken Hoover. "We ruled out any accidental causes so, at this time, we're investigating."
All of the fires were off Route FF. Some were small, but some were as big as 25 acres. The flames came dangerously close to two homes.
"My mom lives right next door. She called me up and mentioned it looked like a fire right up the road," said Mark Bobertson. "And she had seen some smoke from one down the road a little ways. And I was coming outside to check, and that's when I noticed this area right here. There was some flames and some smoke coming from that area."
But Bobertson and his mother were lucky. A small outbuilding burned to the ground before firefighters arrived.
