SW Mo. Woman Shot, Wounded in Carjacking
GAINESVILLE (AP) - A southwest Missouri man is being held without bond on charges of shooting a woman and stealing her car.
KYTV reports the 36-year-old woman was in satisfactory condition Thursday at a Springfield hospital with a gunshot wound to her hip.
Thirty-four-year-old James Porterfield, of Ava, was charged in Ozark County with assault, robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed says the woman was shot Wednesday evening in the driveway of her home in Wasola.
Reed says the shooter drove off in the woman's Ford Escape, then ditched it in nearby Douglas County and stole another vehicle in Ava. He was arrested a short time later.
Porterfield does not have a listed phone number and did not have a lawyer Thursday.
