Teaching Techniques for Boys or Girls
Female students outperform male students nationwide. In Columbia, boys score lower than girls in the communication arts.
Administrators hope to close that achievement gap by creating activities that not only appeal to boys, but also benefit girls.
"Parents should be excited because teachers are still interested in being learners," said Principal Elaine Hassemer of Paxton Keeley Elementary School.
Columbia elementary teachers will have the opportunity to try the strategies.
