Teen Dies In Columbia Shooting
Capt. Nelson of the Columbia Police Department confirmed that the victim, Tedarrian C. Robinson, died at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say the incident was a feud between two groups of people that knew each other. All involved were 16 or older. Three people were in the vehicle that was shot at, and two people were in the car that shots were fired from. The cars were moving during the shooting.
One of the people from the car from which the shooting was happening hid in a house on Prescott and the other surrendered quickly to police. Police entered the house to apprehend the hiding person of interest.
MU police stress the shooting did not take place on or near the MU campus.
KOMU's Jen Ayres reported that neighbors in the area heard gunshots and saw vehicles speeding by, which is what prompted the police response to the Bearfield area.
Police later found multiple shell casings in the Prescott Road area, but no weapon at this time.
Columbia police say the Robinson was critically wounded by a gunshot to the back and later died from the wound. He was taken from Reactor Field to University Hospital in Columbia.
Several Columbia public school buildings were locked down for a short period of time, and students were later released. School officials report all students are safe.
