ALTON, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in Jersey County say a teenage girl from Gillespie has died after she lost control of her car and it rolled over. Seventeen-year-old Alisha Nelon was driving east on the Great River Road toward Alton Thursday afternoon when she apparently lost control of the car. Master Sergeant Tonya Goldasich of the Illinois State Police says Nelon's Chevrolet Blazer traveled more than 150 feet off the road. She then over-corrected her mistake and her car rolled over, throwing her from the vehicle. The Jersey County coroner pronounced her dead at the scene. Two passengers, 16-year-old Ryan Allsman of Wood River and 15-year-old Mathew Short of Alton were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. They were wearing seatbelts, and Nelon was not.
