Teen Scheduled for School Massacre Trial
TROY, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri teenager is scheduled to stand trial later this month for allegedly plotting a school massacre.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 18-year-old Donald Waters faces a four-day trial starting Jan. 24 in Lincoln County.
No plot was carried out, but police say Waters planned to run through the halls of Winfield High School and shoot as many people as possible last spring. He was a senior at the school at the time.
Detectives say they uncovered evidence from Waters' computer showing he had researched how to build and shoot weapons. But Waters' attorney says police didn't find any plot on the computer, and the weapons he researched were for a school project and part of normal teenage curiosity.
