Teenager dies after being hit by car while lying in roadway

MONTGOMERY COUNTY - One teenager is dead and another seriously injured after a car hit the teens while they were lying down on a road Sunday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said 19-year-old Dakota Skeens was driving on Route B, half a mile west of Mexico Road, while 19-year-old James Lawrence of New Florence and 19-year-old Nicholas Sachs of High Hill were lying down in the roadway.

MSHP said Skeens hit Lawrence and Sachs around 3:10 a.m. Sunday. Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene, and Sachs was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.
