Telethon Funds Presented to Joplin
JOPLIN - Small businesses in Joplin could get part of a big check from mid-Missouri presented Thursday. The United Way of Joplin gave the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce a check for $211,000.
The money comes from KOMU 8's telethon in May, collected by the Heart of Missouri United Way. The funds will help small businesses rebuild and recreate jobs. The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce president, Rob O'Brien, said businesses will be able to apply for help from this money through July 8th. Then, he said the chamber will allocate the money based on which businesses have the greatest need for the assistance.
