COLUMBIA - According to Columbia Public Schools Dr. Eliot Battle died Tuesday night, after being in a car accident on Friday.
Battle was just at Battle High School, dedicated to his late wife Muriel Battle, on June 2.
Battle was 88 years-old, and worked in schools for more than 40 years.
Battle High School Assistant Principal, Dr. Darlene Grant said, Battle will be remembered for his values and how much he cared about students.
Grant said, "His legacy is about educating yourself but also giving and educating others. Him and Dr. Muriel Battle I think embodied that."
The Missouri United Methodist Church is arranging Eliot Battle's Celebration of Life.
