COLUMBIA - The Center Project is Mid-Missouri's first and only LGBTQ Community Center. Saturday was the center's grand re-opening after moving from Walnut Street to a new building on St. James Street. The Center Project started as a grassroots organization and funraised for six years to erect a community center. The original center was opened to the public in May of 2009. Founding Board Member for The Center Project, Dustin Hampton, said he hopes this center can be a safe space for all of the Columbia Community.
