The MDA Annual Telethon Raises More Money
COLUMBIA - Sept. 5 at 10 p.m. marked the 44th annual Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon. Studio 8C at KOMU was constantly filled with volunteers answering mid-Missourian's phone calls. People called in to donate any amount of money to the MDA.
Locally, the telethon raised $384,580. Last year it raised around $382,000.
The MDA can do a number of things with the money. It can provide 12,820 flu shots, or 5,197 minutes of research. They could also offer 3,846 hours of counseling, or send 480 children to summer camp.
