KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Justin Bieber and former Tiger Aaron Crow have more in common than you think.

Crow only spent one season in the minors, and it was anything but a major success.
"I think my last year at Mizzou was 2008 and since then it's been up and down; my last year I didn't have a lot of success," said Royals player Aaron Crow.

But a great spring helped Crow pack a bag for the major league opening day roster.
Crow arrived with a backpack, and on that backpack - a picture - the face of Justin Bieber. The backpack is rookie hazing, and so is the haircut.

"One of the things I've got a fauhawk going on but all the rookies have to have one at least that's what the Royals are making us do. I have to carry a purple backpack in the bullpen and to the game and sing on the bus," stated Crow, a relief pitcher.

But his beard is by choice. "I just got lazy in spring training and didn't shave for a few weeks. I don't think it looks that bad," said Crow.

And neither are his stats. He hasn't given up any runs this season.
"During the games I'm not nervous at all, I'm just trying to get them out but reflecting back on it after I'm done it's kind of surreal to say I faced Jim Thome or Torii Hunter," stated Crow.
Crow has 12 strikeouts in his first 7 games totaling 10 and one third innings.

"Who would have thought just one year in minor league ball to what he's doing and being pretty dominant now is pretty special," said Kansas City Pitcher Nate Adcock.

"It's a great experience to be able to face some of these guys that I've been watching on TV for my whole life it seems like it's great to see how I do against them and I'm up for the challenge," said Crow.

And he's giving Royals fans something to "crow" about.
