Thieves Break Into Vehicles at Lambert, Hotel
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Authorities in the St. Louis area say thieves broke into more than 60 vehicles in an employee parking lot at Lambert Airport and a nearby hotel.
The crimes at the American Airlines lot and the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel happened early Thursday. Airport Police Chief Paul Mason tells KMOV-TV he believes the break-ins are related.
The thieves smashed windows and took items from 15 to 20 vehicles at the private American Airlines employee lot and roughly 50 vehicles at the hotel in Berkeley.
Lambert spokesman Jeff Lea says the crimes at the airport were committed by four men in a white van. Bridgeton police later recovered a van that had been stolen in East St. Louis, Ill., and may have been used by the thieves.
