Third Annual Fall Into Art Showcases Local Artists' Work
COLUMBIA - The third annual Fall Into Art festival kicked off Saturday at the Parkade Center in Columbia. The arts and crafts show had a range of artwork from local artists in the area.
The exhibit offered different types of art for all tastes and was an event for the entire family. Samples of art included jewelry, photography, painting, fiber art, stained glass, gourd carving and wood crafting.
Columbia artist Carla McFarland's booth showcased her stained glass and carved gourds. She said when she retired, she had a lot of free time and decided to take up a new hobby. She's been staining glass for ten years now and carving gourds for about a year and a half. This is McFarland's first year at the show.
"I was worried there wouldn't be much of a turnout because it's still kind of a new show and I've been pleased, there's been a steady turnout, there's lots of good artists, it's a great day," said McFarland.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with a wine and hors d' oeuvres reception right after. It will continue Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
