Three Tigers Earn All-Big 12 Recognition
COLUMBIA -- Three Tigers have been recognized by the Big 12 Conference as released Monday by the league office. Senior Christine Flores was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, and senior BreAnna Brock was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. Freshman Kyley Simmons becomes the first Tiger to be named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team as well.
Flores is only the second Mizzou Women's Basketball player to receive All-Big 12 first or second team honors since the 2006-07 season as RaeShara Brown was named to the second team in 2011 as well. Flores currently holds Mizzou's single season blocks record as she has swatted 85 this season. She leads the program with the most career blocks (201) and sits at No. 16 on Missouri's all-time scoring list as well. Flores is averaging 16.7 points per game this season and she ranks third in the conference with an average of 2.93 blocks per game.
Brock is also having a standout season for the Tigers as she has scored in the double figures in 22 of the Tigers' games. She averages 13.9 points per game, ranking 11th in the league. She has grabbed a team-leading 233 rebounds this season which also puts her at No. 5 in the conference. Brock has recorded eight double-doubles this season as well.
Simmons is the first Tiger to be named to the All-Freshman team in school history. She has started in every game for Mizzou this season, and is among the league's freshman leaders with an average of 3.55 assists per game. Simmons was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Feb. 13 after scoring a career-high 14 points against Iowa State. Simmons leads the team with an average of 36 minutes played per game and she has snagged 32 steals this season.
