Three Tigers Guaranteed All-American Honors

DES MOINES, Iowa - Three Tigers have already claimed All-American status by winning quarterfinal matches inFriday's morning session at Wells Fargo Arena. Top-seeded Alan Waters and Dom Bradley both defeated their counterparts, and sophomore Drake Houdashelt continued his magic through the 2013 field with a tiebreaker victory over Kevin Tao of American. The Tigers sit in fifth place with 38.5 team points halfway through the tournament.

Waters claimed his first All-American honor after defeating No. 8 Matthew Snyder of Virginia. Waters hit a takedown early in the first and then capped off the contest with another one with a little over 30 seconds left to win by decision, 4-0. The win marked the 100th of his career, a milestone the Mizzou junior reached in just 111 matches.

Redshirt senior Dom Bradley advances to Friday's semifinal round after a win against No. 9 Zac Thomusseit (Pittsburgh). The quarterfinal match went into tiebreaker 1, where Bradley escaped and then kept a hold of Thomusseit for the second 30-secondperiod. After the 2-1 victory, Dom will now meet up with Michael McMullan of Northwestern. The two met prior to this year's season at the NWCA All-Star Classic, where the Tiger-heavyweight came out on top, 3-2.

This is the second time Bradley has earned All-American honors after claiming third place in 2011.

Houdashelt is the third Tiger to reach the Semifinals this year. In a quarterfinal battle of unranked opponents, the sophomore squeaked by Kevin Tao to advance to the final four at 149 pounds. Houdashelt had a 1-0 lead late in the third with a locked-in ride time point, however Tao was able to role over the top and cash in on a two-point reversal. The contest went to tiebreakers, where Tao had a near escape but the officials waved off their initial call. Houdashelt thenescaped just five seconds in to the final tiebreaker period to emerge victorious, 3-2.

Houdashelt looks to avenge a loss from earlier this season against No. 2-seed Jason Chamberlain of Boise State. The two faced off in Las Vegas at the Cliff Keen Invitational in December, with Chamberlain taking the match 6-4 in overtime.

Senior NathanMcCormick dropped his quarterfinal match to three-seed Tyler Graff of Wisconsin. In what was a close match, McCormick couldn't finish off a late leg attack and fell, 5-3. He will face No. 9 Levi Wolfensperger Friday night, with the winner claiming All-American status.

Seniors Mike Larson and Todd Porter are also still alive in this year's Championships. Should they win their first match tonight, they too will become All-Americans. Larson will meet up with Max Thomusseit of Pittsburgh, and Porter will rematch No. 3 Mike Evans of Iowa.

Larson defeated Daniel Rinaldi of Rutgers, 5-2, to advance to Session IV this year in Des Moines. The win was also his 100th career win while donning a Black and Gold singlet. He joins Bradley, senior Brent Haynes, and most recently,Waters, as Tigers who have reached that milestone this season.

The Semifinalround will begin at 6 p.m. CT and can be seen live on ESPNU or ESPN3.com.
