Tigers Soccer Falls to Texas in Conference Play

COLUMBIA - The Missouri Tigers Women Soccer dropped a close game 2-1 to conference rival Texas Longhorns Sunday at Walton Stadium.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Junior Midfielder Haley Krentz in the 13th minute of action, assist by Freshman Midfielder Kaysie Clark. The team went scoreless for the rest of the game, getting only five shots on goal for the whole game.

Lexi Harris scored first for the Longhorns in the 22nd minute. Then the go-ahead goal came from Allison Smith in the 37th minute. Both goals were assisted by Hannah Higgins. Neither team scored in the second half.

Freshman Goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein recorded nine saves for the Tigers.

The Tigers are now 9-5-0 overall and fall to 1-3-0 in the Big 12 with the loss. Missouri takes on non-conference opponent SIU-Edwardsville on Friday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Walton Stadium.
