DeKALB, Ill. - Following its first dual loss of the season to Northern Iowa Friday, the No. 7 Missouri Tigers Wrestling Team bounced back fiercely with a shutout victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies Saturday.

After their perfect season was broken, the Tigers rallied behind sophomore Cody Johnston. At 184 pounds, Johnston took a 13-3 major decision and earned the only bonus point victory of the day.

Joey Lavalle led the freshman-heavy roster following his first career dual win at Northern Iowa. He took down NIU's Andrew Morse in only ten seconds.

"Johnston didn't even know he was wrestling until yesterday, and stepped up big for us, not just by winning but getting bonus points as well," Head Coach Brian Smith said following the key triumph. "We had the right attitude and right responses to the adversity we faced this weekend."

With a rough road ahead, Mizzou will have to keep up its momentum as it faces No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 9 Oklahoma State this week.

The Tigers will then return from the road Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 to face Buffalo and Eastern Michigan at the Hearnes Center. The Feb. 7 matchup will feature the Tigers' annual Beauty and the Beast event, where Mizzou Wrestling and Mizzou's Gymnastics teams will compete simultaneously.
