Tourists flock to Osage Beach for last official summer weekend
OSAGE BEACH - Labor Day means summer is ending and people from all over are trying to soak up every bit of the warm weather left.
Osage Beach was filled Monday with tourists and Missouri residents using their day off to enjoy time by the water.
Dirty Duck manager Jason Cook said it’s been a profitable Labor Day for his company.
We had a pretty good Labor Day, it was not as busy as Labor Days in the past,” Cook said. “We didn’t have any accidents or any one hurt, so that’s been a good thing.
Cook has worked down at the lake for the last 16 years and has spent the last two working at the Dirty Duck.
He said it’s been a good summer, even though the weather has not been as warm as last year.
“We’ve been really busy,” Cook said. “People seem to be having a good time. They love getting out on the water.”
Lisa Timmons said her family comes from Kansas to Osage Beach every Labor Day weekend.
"It's a nice family tradition to look forward to each year,” she said. “Osage Beach is such a great place to get away for a couple of days."
Cook said, after the next few weeks, he expects the number of tourists to be on par with those from last summer.
"It's been pretty close to normal," Cook said. "Osage Beach has been getting a lot of people each year."
Cook is not surprised by the consistent turn out.
"It's not just college students, it's people from all over," Cook said. "We love the popularity."
