Traffic Stop Turns Into Pot Bust
KINGDOM CITY - Trooper Shawn Brazas thought he was making a routine traffic stop for speeding and ended up giving more than just a ticket.
Brazas discovered 130 pounds of marijuana belonging to 26-year-old Jonathon Carnill and his father 60-year-old Gregory Carnill. They are from Martinsville, West Virginia. Police say they flew from West Virginia to Colorado and they believe that is where they bought the marijuana. Police say they rented the 2010 Chevy Tahoe and planned on driving back to West Virginia. The father and son are currently in Callaway County Jail being held on a $50,000 bond.
Public Information Officer Paul Reinsch said, "Drugs are so important to get off the road because it affects our community with other crimes."
Jonathon and Gregory Carnill are charged with first degree drug trafficking.
