Trail users have to detour down narrow road
COLUMBIA - The replacement of the bridge on the Hinkson Creek Trail is forcing trail users to use a detour on Rock Quarry Road.
Cones are set up along the shoulder of the road alerting drivers, and signs are placed throughout the park directing trail users.
Trail users KOMU 8 News talked to Tuesday said they don't use the bridge but worry about the people who do.
They said drivers on the road go too fast and the shoulder isn't wide enough for bike riders.
This map below shows the detour route:
The construction will take approximately eight weeks, depending on the weather.
The voter approved park sales tax and a recreational trails program grant through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources funded the project.
