Trailer catches fire in Columbia, occupant forced to evacuate
COLUMBIA - A structure fire occurred late Monday night at a trailer at 3406 Rock Quarry Road in Columbia, forcing the lone occupant to evacuate.
Three engines, a ladder, and a rescue squad from the Columbia Fire Department and two tankers from Boone county fire responded the fire. Firefighters saw smoke and visible flames when they arrived on the scene.
Lisa Todd, Captain of Training Division for the Columbia Fire Department, said the victim suffered injuries to hands when she broke a window trying to escape from the fire.
Todd said the victim was taken to University Hospital to evaluate the extent of the injuries. The severity of those injuries was not known at the time information was released.
The fire was extinguished within fifteen minutes after units arrived. Firefighters worked thereafter to extinguish hot spots.
